It’s nearly the winter break and we are set for a few weeks of fun, lots of food and gifts to be shared. The Students’ Union at Paisley Campus want to help all our students to have a great festive break however we know that many will face food hunger and may need to choose between heating and eating. Remember that with more than 4,000 students at UWS come from Scotland’s most deprived communities.
As such the Students’ Union are collecting clothing and food for the Free Shop and Community Fridge to support students who are in financial hardship over the winter period, we are also working with students to help the homeless in the West of Scotland.
We would welcome anything you feel you can give including warm clothes such as jackets, hats, gloves, jumpers and trousers, all of any size, including for children.
We would also welcome donations of non-perishable foods (foods which do not require refrigeration/freezing and that has a long shelf life) including tinned soup and veg, boxed cereals, dried pasta and bottled juice. Any food donated should be in its original packaging and unopened.
To support the initiative we have placed boxes around Paisley Campus for donations, these can be found at the Hub, Main Entrance/Reception and in Halls.
If you would like to enquire further about this initiative please contact the Students Union Vice President Welfare and Wellbeing, Ismail, at firstname.lastname@example.org
