The Third Scottish Funding Council report on Widening Access to students from disadvantaged backgrounds was released on the 29th of May. The report shows that UWS continues to be Scotland’s leading university for Widening Access.
The report also reveals that almost a quarter of all Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation, 20% most deprived (SIMD 20) students in Scotland are studying at UWS.
In addition, data from the report shows that in the past five years retention of SIMD 20 students at UWS has improved by very nearly 10%; the biggest improvement in student retention rates across the entire Scottish Higher Education sector.
