The Virtual International Day of the Midwife celebrates the International Day of the Midwife by bringing together midwives, students, consumers and all parties interested in childbirth from across the globe using online electronic media.
This years event takes place on Sunday, May 5th 2019, the same day as the ICM International Day of the Midwife.
As part of this worldwide online event Sarah Scarlett and Lauren O’Neill, midwifery students at UWS, will talk about the journey women make to get to Europe seeking respite from war zones and other adversities forcing them to flee from their homelands. Last year both students volunteered with Amurtel, a charitable organisation run by women for women that provide maternity care and excellent infant feeding support to refugee mothers and infants during pregnancy, birth and infancy.
During their session, they will discuss their experiences. If you want to access the conference and this event CLICK HERE
