Sabha Asghar 3rd year UWS PhD student

Sabha Asghar (pictured), 3rd year UWS PhD student, has been accepted (through a highly competitive selection process) to represent the School and University with a poster presentation at STEM for Britain, Biological and Biomedical Sciences Exhibition, which will take place in the House of Commons, London on the 13th March 2019. STEM for BRITAIN’s aim is to support and encourage early-stage research scientists, engineers, technologists and mathematicians for the long-term progress and development of research in the UK research.

Sabha’s research focuses on the role of exosomes (cell-derived containers) on the cartilage destruction found in osteoarthritis and aims to identify novel treatments for this debilitating disease.

Furthermore, Sabha has been successful in securing £1000 travel bursary from the British Society for Immunology (BSI) to attend and present a poster at OARSI (Osteoarthritis Research Society International) 2019 World Congress which will take place in Toronto, Canada in May 2019.

A successful and busy couple of months ahead for Sabha!
