The main event will kick off at 10am. with guests being invited to come along and see panels and artwork from the Tapestry of Renfrewshire and hear from one of its designers and makers; then welcome Jilli Blackwood, world renowned textile designer and creator of the Team Scotland Commonwealth Games uniform for Glasgow 2014. You might even take this opportunity to add your stitch to the Tapestry of Renfrewshire, or to join in with the selection of workshops and demonstrations given by Glasgow Women’s Library, Paisley Museum, Sma’ Shot Cottages, the Guild of Weavers Spinners and Dyers, Weaving Musical Threads or from our own School of Computing Engineering and Physical Sciences. It’s a vibrant morning with something interesting for everyone.
As well as celebrating the Tapestry of Renfrewshire, the event will reflect the impact and input the weaving and Mill industry had in Paisley, the women that were the hidden drivers behind the success of the industry and the connection it has to current engineering and computing methods.
