Moving to Hamilton to achieve her dream of becoming a midwife, has also allowed Sophie Anderson to pursue her other love – rugby.  Sophie has the potential to play internationally and moving away from her home in Aberdeenshire, has enabled her to join Hillhead Jordanhill Women’s Rugby Club and gain a regular spot playing for their first team.  This season has seen ‘HillJills’ win the Women’s Premier League and League Cup titles.  The final of the cup was played on the international pitch at Murrayfield in front of over 2000 spectators.  Sophie is fortunate to be supported by the UWS Sports Scholarship scheme and her hobby certainly keeps her fit for the long hours on placement.  She has already had to ‘catch’ an enthusiastic baby on labour ward.  Well done Sophie.
