Congratulations to our partner college, New College Lanarkshire which has been recognised as a leading provider of dental nursing education after being crowned the Dental Trainer of the Year at the Scottish Dental Awards.
The College’s Dental Nursing provision was celebrated as the best in the Scottish dental industry at the glittering awards ceremony in the Glasgow Hilton on 27 April.
A pioneer of dental nurse education in Scotland, the College is a leading training provider to the future generation of highly skilled dental nurses. Overseen by Curriculum and Quality Leader, Kate Wilson, it runs courses from Level 5 to Degree level. This degree course is supported by the School of Health, Nursing and Midwifery here at UWS.
Since the upgrade of its facilities in 2015, the College has gone from strength to strength in providing sector leading training – including the introduction of a BSc Dental Nursing degree, continued enhancement of training facilities, and ongoing commitment to placement opportunities and partnerships.
Not stopping there, the College’s Assistant Head of Faculty of Care and Science, Jennifer Lowe, was recognised individually in the Unsung Hero category for her ongoing commitment to enhancing dental nursing education nationally and internationally – beating five other industry heroes for the coveted title, shortlisted from a record amount of entries
Jennifer has been responsible for introducing unique programmes of study to the Scottish Dental Nursing sector, as well as nurturing a generation of highly skilled, highly qualified dental nurses.
