Christmas Charity Collection for Scottish Woman's Aid

womens aidWomen’s Aid is a domestic abuse charity serving the communities across Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire. The charity aim to support and empower women, children and young people who are experiencing, or have experienced domestic abuse. They provide a range of needs led services including refuge accommodation, support and information, which ensures improved outcomes. Their services are based on listening to women, children, young people and partner agencies.

Last Christmas, staff from the Hamilton and Paisley Campuses donated a huge supply of hygiene products and a generous collection of toys and gifts for children age 0-16. Along with the donations, a cheque for £300 was given to the charity from the money the school collected from  “Hello my name is…” badges.

With this money, a ‘Health and Wellbeing’ Event was held in August 2017. Twenty two children attended with their parents or carers and 6 children attended the day of ‘Emotional Literacy’ workshop. The Charity thought it would be appropriate to use the money donatec by the school for Health and Educational purposes. Both of these workshops would not have been possible without our support.

For Christmas 2017, The School will again be collecting items for the refuge and Christmas gifts for children age 0-16 and women of all ages.

If you wish to contribute, two boxes will be available:

BOX 1 will be for Gifts to give to children for Christmas {Age 0-16 years, boys and girls}; Toys, Books, Toiletry Gift Sets, Accessories etc.

BOX 2 will be for Hygiene products for babies, children, teenagers and women; nappies, baby wipes, deodorant, soaps, sanitary products, body lotions etc.

(Please note that given the nature as well as for hygiene reasons, all donations must be new-including toys and books)

These boxes will be in Room C1.29, Caird Building, Hamilton Campus. and in Room A512 if you are at Paisley Campus based.

Please note, the donations need to be with us by 4pm on Tuesday 19th December 2017.
