Join us to celebrate 120 years of our history with a series of events for alumni, students and staff Wednesday 11 October – Friday 13 October.
Session 2017-2018 marks a significant point in our history and a period of major celebration for the University. So, what are we celebrating?
- 120 years: 2017 marks 120 years since the foundation of the original Paisley Technical School that has evolved and developed through merger and growth to form a university now home to over 15,000 students across 5 campuses and with an expanding network of partners worldwide.
- 25 years: 2017 also marks 25 years since we gained University status; and 2018 celebrates 25 years since the installation of our first Chancellor and the award of our first Honorary degrees.
- 10 years: It is 10 years since we became University of the West of Scotland following the successful merger of University of Paisley and Bell College.
As part of this celebration, the University is hosting a series of events for alumni, staff and students on Paisley Campus from 11-13 October.
There will be an Alumni vs Students Sports Day on Wednesday afternoon, 11 October, and a roundtable discussions focusing on critical questions facing UWS on Thursday afternoon, 12 October.
Our musical theatre students and graduates are creating a special review entitled “Music Thru the Decades” to be performed in Brough Hall on Thursday evening, 12 October. This will be a great (free) family event, with popcorn and ice cream available, so please register for this soon as tickets are limited!
And on Friday, 13 October, we will hear from some of our inspiring alumni and offer networking and mentoring opportunities for current students.
