A nurse-led partnership approach, designed to explore innovative ways of eliciting food and drink preferences in a real life setting for the person with advanced dementia was highly commented in the Dementia Category of the Scottish Mental Health Nurse Forum awards on 8 November 2016.
This applied research project, Food for Thought, was based in Haig House within Erskine Home. This unit is home to a number to a number of residents who have advanced dementia.

This project, which was Funded by the Queen’s Nursing Institute for Scotland and The Burdett Trust, was nurse led and co-created with family members, allied health professionals, catering and support staff supported and facilitated by Margaret Brown and Hazel McWhinnie from UWS.
