Not so… "Smart Drugs" Warning for Students

Last month the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) issued a warning to students about the dangers of taking ‘smart drugs’ which are often used as a way of boosting their marks and staying awake. They have said young people are gambling with their health by using prescription medicines in a bid to get higher marks in exams.

Recent reports show that study drugs are becoming a reality of everyday student life at university. But universities seem to be doing little to address the problem with little if any information being given to students to explain the risks of these drugs. Students under enormous pressure to perform may well take a risk and try these drugs but the trend towards  taking “study” drugs is potentially more damaging than even recreational drug use.
