Congratulations to everyone from within the School who contributed to the UWS Self-Assessment Team (SAT). UWS has this week been awarded the Athena SWAN Institutional Bronze Award.
The Athena SWAN Charter was established in 2005 by the Equality Challenge Unit to encourage and recognise commitment to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) employment in higher education and research.
Professor Catriona Tedford, Head of the University’s Graduate School, said: “The University is committed to advancing the careers of women working in STEMM areas and we are delighted to have achieved the Athena SWAN Institutional Bronze Award. This achievement is thanks to the hard work of colleagues from across UWS, in particular the UWS Self-Assessment Team (SAT). We will continue to work hard as an institution to build on this Award.”
The University will officially be presented with its Athena SWAN Bronze Award at a ceremony on 30th June, at the University of Sheffield.
