One of our Mental health students Steven Young, has been shortlisted in the Student Nurse of the Year: Mental Health category of the Student Nursing Times Awards 2016.
Steven, who is in third year of his Mental Health Nursing degree, was shortlisted for this award, which will be presented at a ceremony at the London Hilton on Thursday 28 April 2016, for his outstanding performance as a student nurse.
The Nursing Times Student Nurse Awards are the only awards to celebrate the very best in student nurses and nurse education. This year’s awards pay tribute to student nurses who have demonstrated the academic achievement, clinical prowess and personal qualities that will make them brilliant nurses.
Commenting on being shortlisted for this prestigious award Steven, 30 who lives in Hamilton, said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have been shortlisted for this national award – it is a huge honour.”
Heather Nesbitt, Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing at Hamilton Campus, who nominated Steven for this award, said: “We are delighted that Steven has been nominated for this award. Throughout his course Steven as demonstrated his passion for his chosen career. He has volunteered to undertake many extra curricular projects throughout the course and has been an ambassador for both mental health nursing and UWS at both local and national events. He thoroughly deserves this nomination and we wish him well for the ceremony.
