Professor Kevin Rooney of Healthcare Improvement Scotland and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, who is also a Professor of Care Improvement at UWS, has won a prestigious Scottish Health Award.
The Scottish Health Awards recognise Scotland’s most dedicated and caring NHS workers and are the most prestigious awards for healthcare professionals in Scotland. Run by the Daily Record, in partnership with NHS Scotland and the Scottish Government, the awards are now well established in the Scottish calendar.
Professor Rooney won the ‘Doctor’ category of the awards which were announced on 4 November 2015 at a ceremony at the Corn Exchange, Edinburgh.
This award, which is for an individual doctor providing NHS medical care for people in Scotland, aims to recognise the high quality NHS care and vital treatment that an individual doctor has provided to patients in Scotland.
Professor Rooney said: “I am extremely proud to be recognised in this way – it is a huge honour to have won a Scottish Health Award. This success would not have been possible, if it wasn’t for the support from my family, NHS colleagues and UWS.”
