Professor Kevin Rooney, Professor of Care Improvement within the School of Health Nursing and Midwifery has been nominated for a Scottish Health Award.
The Scottish Health Awards recognise Scotland’s most dedicated and caring NHS workers and are the most prestigious awards for healthcare professionals in Scotland. Run by the Daily Record, in partnership with NHS Scotland and the Scottish Government, the awards are now a well established part of the Scottish calendar.
Professor Rooney has been nominated in the ‘Doctor’ category of the awards which will be announced on Wednesday 4 November 2015 at a ceremony at the Corn Exchange, Edinburgh.
This award, which is for an individual doctor providing NHS medical care for people in Scotland, aims to recognise the high quality NHS care and vital treatment that an individual doctor has provided to patients in Scotland.
Professor Rooney said: “I am really delighted to be named a finalist for a Scottish Health Award. I am extremely proud to be recognised in this way – it is a huge honour. Being a finalist would not have been possible, if it wasn’t for the support of my family, NHS colleagues and UWS.”
