Our School hosted its 5th Annual Student Mental Health Nursing Conference at Ayr Campus on Thursday 10 September 2015.
The conference is held at one of the University’s four campuses each year and brings together Mental Health Nursing students from across the University to celebrate their course completion. This year the conference, ‘Getting There Together’, was organised by third year UWS Mental Health Nursing students based at the University’s Ayr Campus.
The event saw over 150 delegates, which included UWS Mental Health Nursing students, academics and mental health professionals from across the West of Scotland in attendance.
Jamie Hepburn, Minister of Sport, Health Improvement and Mental Health; Fiona McKenzie, CEO of Centrestage Communities Ltd, which delivers programmes in community engagement through the arts; and Iona Colvin, Chief Officer for the North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) all delivered keynote speeches at this event.
Stewart Kerr of the University’s School of Health, Nursing and Midwifery said: “The success of this conference is a tribute to the hard work of our students who organised this event. The conference was extremely well received by the delegates and was an excellent way for our students to celebrate the completion of their course.”
