Finalists in Scotland’s Dementia Awards for 2015

A national education programme delivered by our school has been shortlisted a finalist in Scotland’s Dementia Awards for 2015.

The school in partnership with Alzheimer Scotland has delivered Scotland’s National Dementia Champions programme on 6 occasions now since 2011. The result is that nationally there are now over 600  health and social care professionals acting as Dementia Champions within NHS hospitals and other public facing health and social care services across the country.

The first cohort to finish (with then Health Minister Nicola Sturgeon)

The programme, commissioned by NHS Education Scotland (NES) is regarded as an integral part of both Scotland’s First and Second National Dementia Strategies. This unique programme utilises a blended learning approach to prepare Champions to be ‘agents of change’ within  their own workplaces. Working with their colleagues, the Champions are charged with improving the experience of people living with dementia across all the health and social care areas in which they work.

The awards will be announced on 24th September at Glasgow’s Marriot Hotel. We wish the team every success on the day!
